Came here on a Monday (Presidents Day) and the place was decently packed. Service was quick but I wish the server came by our table more times to take orders, give napkins, etc. Food overall was good. My friends and I originally came for their lunch special but it turns out that it's unavailable during holidays. There was a Valentines Day promotion going on so my friends and I opted for the Valentines special for 3 plus additional dishes and alcohol. I liked the salad, soup, garlic noodles, and meat assortments. I wish there was a wider selection of foods available for the special. The place is clean and spacious. I can see this place being a good date night place that offers a neat experience of Japanese BBQ. The dessert smores/fondue is also a nice little post dinner treat! :) Will definitely be back to try their lunch specials or any happy hours! Note: The alcohol was pretty good. There is a selection of beers and cocktails. There is parking nearby at a structure or street parking!

I liked how this restaurant offered many bbq combos fit for 2/4/6 parties. Meat quality is nice and I would make it a point to try more of their menu next time. Visited during DineLA.

First time coming and with my family of 8 for Saturday dinner. My uncle and aunt raved about this place when they came last month, they said the server they had (Kevin) was so attentive and quick. However, they came on a Thursday night but they said it was still busy and crowded. This time, we arrived around 5:15pm. Wait time was 15-20 minutes, they recommended we reserve a table next time in case the wait time is longer. We got seated pretty quickly, we sat somewhere in the middle after the kitchen. We ordered the 50$ premium ayce. Our first round was ordering a bunch of appetizers and meat. I didn't realize how busy it got and how little the portion of meat they gave: Garlic edamame was delicious and super garlicky Gyoza and spring rolls were crispy but tasted like the ones you buy from the freezer section Kimchi and cucumber salad were crunchy and seasoned well, not too spicy The seaweed soup was warm and the white pepper gave it a distinct taste, my dad drank two The cabbage salads came very late, but they were amazing (I recommend the spicy one as it was super flavorful and wasn't spicy at all) The half salad never came... The meats were confusing, I only knew which one was the pork belly because of the color. Pork belly was super flavorful and tender The only beef one I can differentiate was the New York steak which was tender and amazing There was a cubed beef that was super chewy and I was not able to eat it :( Calamari was good, make sure it's cooked throughly to get rid of the fishy taste and not too well done as it can get really rubbery. There is a 90 minute time limit, not sure how they track but the time we went they were really slow in getting things out of the kitchen. Unfortunately they were really short staffed in the kitchen and super full in the seating area. The servers were running back and forth as many tables were still idle and waiting for anything to come out. Luckily, my family didn't need to eat much to feel satisfied, they ordered mochi ice creams and smores. The favorite from them all is the green tea. It did take us more than 90 minutes to finish eating. A strange thing happened towards the end, our server squeezed lemon on the meat and told us she will change the grill so we had to take the meat off. So we did, but she never came back. Which made me want to laugh because I had no idea what happened. Luckily the meat was medium rare and all beef so we ate it and left. Overall, I enjoyed most of the food. Although service wasn't as great as my family's previous time, it was still pretty good. Parking nearby was 15$ (all day). Street parking is always full and 2hour limit (metered). However, most of the parked cars had their meters on red, and it felt like no one was monitoring them, but I don't want to risk getting a parking ticket. Seniors (age 60+) are 37$ instead of 50$, which my family (except me) were priced. It also makes sense given they barely ate anything and didn't take long to feel full.

I personally do not like Korean bbq at all so I was a little hesitant about trying Japanese bbq since it's the same concept, but after my first experience, I would definitely come back! I was really impressed with the amount of items they give you and the quality of meat. We were definitely really stuffed when we left and the prices are very fair. We added a few extra side items to try and I personally don't think it's necessary. I think the best meat option was the filet, and it was 10x better than the add-on Wagyu (I don't recommend anyone paying extra for the Wagyu here). I also recommend the size of fondu cheese for the shrimp - that was delicious, and I was impressed by their spicy tuna volcano. Service was alright, not great, but not bad (could be better). I'll just say our two seconds experience with the host was much better than the mood from our server, but we just let it be and didn't pay much attention to them. Highly recommend coming for an easy, fun night with friends.

One of the best ayce bbq options, Gyu kaku is a Japanese yakiniku place with consistent quality, taste, and great ventilation! (The vents are located on the grill so that it doesn't feel like your basking in meat smokes!) I always go for their ayce menu for the most value and various meat options. Each serving size is smaller, but the perfect size so that you can try more items. If you're going for the cheapest tier aka premium or $50 as of Jan 2025, the top items I recommend are: - Shrimp (Try the spicy ver if you can eat spicy!) - Angus beef rib (chewy but tender) - Umakara ribeye (tender and has a slight kick) - toro beef (it's good) - Spinach (it's wrapped in foil for you to cook in their butter/sauce. It's pretty satisfying.) - s'mores (this is the only restaurant I know where you can take the grill cover off and grill the marshmallow for dessert!) Honorable mentions include spicy cucumber (not spicy, mostly sweet-savory), cheese corn, mushrooms, shishito peppers, gyu kaku salad (has chopped red bell peppers, boiled eggs and Kewpie sesame sauce). Compared to previous visits, they ran out of spinach (one of my fav) and green tea matcha ice cream, had a bit of a wait time despite coming to a reservation, and I think they stopped giving out wet hand wipes after the meal. Nonetheless, the food quality was still top notch and service was friendly.

5/5 food 5/5 service 3/5 price I'm just a hungry fat little boy. Anyway, I came to try this place on christmas with my family and we all loved this place! The meats are marinated very well and my parents also enjoyed it. I we ordered almost $200 dollars worth of meats for four people and still left kind of hungry. The only thing I probably would've done differently was do the AYCE instead of just ordering it by the plate. The garlic noodles were amazing! The edamame and takoyaki wasn't anything special but we still enjoyed it. Overall, I had a good experience and I would suggest doing AYCE if you are super hungry!!
